Install QuickBooks Pro or Premier 2010
This article guides you through the installation of QuickBooks Pro or Premier 2010.
Detailed Instructions
- Start the Installation Wizard:
- From a CD: Insert the QuickBooks CD into the CD or DVD drive.
Tip: If the installation does not start automatically:
a. Right-click the Windows Start button and select Explore.
b. Browse to your CD or DVD drive in the left pane of the window and left-click it once to view the contents of the CD.
c. Double-click the file named Setup.exe in the right pane of the window to begin the installation.

- From a Download: Double-click the downloaded installation file (executable file with an .exe file extension).
- Click Next to begin the installation.
- Read the terms of the Software License Agreement. If you agree, select I accept the terms in the license agreement and click Next.
- Choose Express if you would like the installer to make the recommended choices for you.
- Choose Customer and Network Options if you will use QuickBooks to share data with other users at the same time on a network, or if you want to change the location where QuickBooks will be installed.
- Click Next after you make your choice. Proceed to Step 5 if you chose Express, or skip to Step 6 if you chose Custom.
- Enter the License and Product numbers in the appropriate fields
- I'll be using QuickBooks on this computer:
- Choose this option if you are installing on a computer when someone will be sitting at this computer using QuickBooks and will not have the company file stored on this computer (workstation).
- I'll be using QuickBooks on this computer, AND I'll be storing our company file here so it can be shared over our network.
- Choose this option if someone will be sitting at this computer using QuickBooks or accessing QuickBooks through Remote Desktop connections, and will locally store the company file that can be shared with others.
- I will NOT be using QuickBoooks on this computer. I will be storing our company file here so it can be shared over network. (A license is not required for this option.)
- Choose this option if no one will be using QuickBooks on this computer, but you plan on using the computer as a file server to share the company file over the network with 1 or more workstations with QuickBooks installed on them.
- Click Next when you have made your selection.
If this is the first time QuickBooks will be installed on this computer, you will not have any reference to a current setting. Examples of these installation types are found in the help topic when you click the Explain these options in detail link.
7. Here you have the ability to change the location that QuickBooks is installed by clicking Browse.
Note: The Replace the version selected below with the version I'm installing now option is only available if the QuickBooks installer detects a previous installation of Quickbooks. That is, if you currently have a previous version of QuickBooks installed and you are upgrading to QuickBooks 2010, you will have the option as it appears in the image provided.
8. That is it! Click Install to continue, or click Back if you need to go back and review any of the prior screens.

- If you would like shortcuts to Services we offer and Support Options, make sure to select Add service and support shortcuts before clicking Install.
9. Quickbooks will return the following message when the installation has completed:
By default, the checkboxes Open Quickbooks and Help me get started will be selected. You can modify these options prior to clicking the Finish button.
